What is the Best Movie of All Time? It’s a loaded question. It’s really about what our favorite movie is for many of us- or what movie changed us as a young child growing up? Here at PollsHere we love all kinds of movies and we recognize that you in all likelihood do too- So we’ve assembled a list of humdingers for you to choose from. What is the best (ahem-- you’re favorite) movie of all time? We want you to weigh in.

Citizen Kane came out in 1941. It’s an American drama film by Orson Welles, its producer, co-screenwriter, director and star. Believe it or not Citizen Kane was his very 1st feature film. Citizen Kane was nominated for Academy Awards in 9 categories, and it won for Best Writing, Original Screenplay, by Herman J. Mankiewicz and Orson Welles. Citizen Kane is considered by many critics, filmmakers, and fans to be the greatest film ever made. Just thinking about that in 2020 that a film released in 1941 is under consideration speaks to the power of this film. But you know the drill-- we want to know what you think about it.

Casablanca also came out a lifetime ago in 1942. Casablanca is an American romantic drama film. The film stars Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, and Paul Henreid; it also features Claude Rains, Conrad Veidt, Sydney Greenstreet, Peter Lorre, and Dooley Wilson. Most of whom might be unfamiliar names to young people taking this poll, but were mega Hollywood stars of their era. Casablanca is set during the Second World War and it focuses on an American expatriate, Humphrey Bogart. Casablanca won the Academy Award for Best Picture, Best Director and honored for writing the Best Adapted Screenplay.

The Godfather came out in 1972, another film that came out seemingly a lifetime ago The Godfather is an American crime film directed by Francis Ford Coppola who co-wrote the screenplay with Mario Puzo, based on Puzo's best-selling 1969 novel. The Godfather inspired two sequels forming a trilogy of films The Godfather features an ensemble all -star cast including Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan, Richard Castellano, Robert Duvall, Sterling Hayden, John Marley, Richard Conte, and Diane Keaton. The story, spanning from 1945 to 1955, chronicles the Corleone family under patriarch Vito Corleone, played by Marlon Brando. The Godfather won Oscars for Best Picture, Best Actor, Marlon Brando, and Best Adapted Screenplay. And received 7 other Oscar nominations.

OK but what about Star Wars? Am I right? Star Wars came out in 1977 and changed the entire landscape of not only movies but pop culture around the world for time and memoriam. Star Wars was directed by George Lucas, produced by Lucasfilm and distributed by 20th Century-Fox. It stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Alec Guinness, and James Earl Jones. Star Wars has inspired close to a dozen movies to date just within the confines of their own franchise which doesn’t even include spoof movies like SpaceBalls by Mel Brooks or other modern Sci-Fi franchises that used Star Wars for inspiration. Star Wars received 10 Oscar nominations (including Best Picture), winning 7. In 1989, it became one of the first 25 films that was selected by the U.S. Library of Congress for preservation in the National Film Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."
