If you had to pick one, would you choose Vladimir Putin or Joe Biden for our next president? The question may seem crazy on face value but consider that Russian President Vladimir Putin is enjoying rising popularity among Republicans according to a new poll from the Pew Research Center. The poll found that the share of Republicans expressing confidence in Putin doubled to 34% from 17% in 2015 when President Trump launched a campaign for the White House that was seen as friendly toward Moscow. Even though most Americans view Russia negatively, Moscow's overall popularity in the United States has risen since 2014, when it plummeted after the country annexed Crimea. 29% of Americans now have a favorable view, compared with 19% in 2014, the poll found. Meanwhile, Vice President Joe Biden is currently enjoying his lead in the Democratic Presidential Primaries and has a real shot to end up representing the Democrats in the 2020 election. “Uncle Joe” has enjoyed decades in public service whether he was serving as a US Senator from the great state of Delaware or the Vice President during the Obama Administration.
This sounds like a silly question, but we’ve seen people at Trump rallies wearing shirts saying they’d rather be Russian than an American Democrat. Maybe they are kooky outliers and not a true representation of today’s Republicans and Conservatives, but who knows? Tell us what you think. So If you had to pick one, would you choose Vladimir Putin or Joe Biden for our next president? We’d like to know your opinion on what could end up being a surprisingly hotly contested topic.
